Just back from tuning up the skate track this evening. The classic tracks remain in great shape, and with the cold temps should continue to ski well.
With Ryan's help we did some testing to figure out what settings would be optimal for setting the skate track with the Ginzu groomer. I've had a sneaking suspicion for some time that trying to groom more quickly leads to a less compact track, and with snow temps in the single digits this is definitely true. The ginzu blades do a wonderful job of refreshing the hard pack that results from lots of traffic, but one also has to be mindful of the overlap when making two passes with the groomer so as to minimize any mid-track hump.
Hopefully our time testing different grooming speeds and overlap widths will be noticeable over the weekend, and helpful in the future as we continue to make Teton Lakes a *great place to ski*™ 😉
